The reason is that you have to go through an arraignments process. During the arraignment, the judge will set bail and decide if any restrictions should be connected to your release. The arraignment is supposed to take place no more than 48 business hours after your arrest.

The Size of the Bail Bond You Need

The next big difference is how large a bail bond you’ll require. The bail for a misdemeanor is usually significantly lower than the bail you’ll need for a felony.
